Our Fortified Yeast mineral products (also known as a Nutritional Yeast) utilize a non-GMO yeast strain (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) that is blended with a specific mineral salt after fermentation. At Cypress, we use the highest quality wet blending process to maximize consistency of mineral potency throughout the production batch.
Fortified/Nutritional Yeast products use the same species of yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) used to make beer, bread or kombucha, but with a different end-product. It is a primary-grown yeast. That means it is cultivated specifically for its nutritional value and not as a by-product or a means to another recipe. The major difference between, a baker’s or brewer’s yeast is that it is an active form, where as Nutritional or Fortified Yeast is inactive, so it has no leavening ability. In other words, it will not reproduce inside you. There is a lot misleading information regarding nutritional yeast and Candidiasis and how consuming too much of it will cause yeast to overgrow in your body. This just can’t happen because nutritional yeast is inactive and doesn’t contain Candida albicans.
As with all our inactive dry yeast mineral products, prior to spray drying, the resulting chilled yeast cream is pasteurized through a high temperature sterilization system. This ensures the inactivity of the yeast and that the final product also meets or exceeds established human food grade USDA microbial requirements.
