Nutritional Yeast

NutraFeast Nutritional Yeast is made from a non-GMO yeast strain, using a fermentation process that produces a primary grown, high-protein yeast. 

Nutritional yeast is primarily grown for its nutritional value, not as a by-product or ingredient for other recipes.

Cypress Ingredients’ nutritional yeast is pasteurized through a high-temperature sterilization system, rendering the yeast inactive so it does not have a leavening ability.

What is NutraFeast® Nutritional Yeast?

NutraFeast Nutritional Yeast is produced from a non-GMO yeast strain using a fermentation process that produces a primary grown, high protein yeast whose growth occurs under aseptic, aerobic conditions. 

During fermentation, the temperature, pH, and growth are closely regulated. The resulting product, or yeast cream is pasteurized through a high temperature sterilization system ensuring it meets or exceeds established human food grade USDA microbial requirements. 

The composite sample collected during spray drying and packaging is analyzed for nutrient and microbial composition by external, independent, and certified laboratories. Once our nutritional yeast meets all QA/QC requirements, it is released for sale with a supporting Certificate of Analysis. 

All Cypress Ingredients’ yeasts are inactive dry yeast products and the resulting chilled yeast cream is pasteurized through a high-temperature sterilization system. This is why it meets or exceeds established human food-grade USDA microbial requirements.

What is Saccharomyces cerevisiae?

Saccharomyces cerevisiae is a yeast species commonly known as brewer’s yeast or baker’s yeast. Nutritional yeast is a variant of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. 

 

Brewer’s yeast is used to produce beer and bread. It can also be purchased as a nutritional supplement.

 

Baker’s yeast is used to leaven bread.

 

Nutritional yeast is grown as food product, supplement, and ingredient. The yeast cells are inactive, so it cannot reproduce inside your body. It is typically sold as flakes, powder, or granules and has a pale yellow color.

 

There is quite a bit of misleading information regarding Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Candida. Candida albicans is a kind of yeast that lives in your body, which may overgrow, contributing to health conditions.
