Our Comprehensive Review: Minerals That Support Healthy Immunity: Selenium

THE YEAST FERMENTAION PROCESS

Why Yeast Fermentation is the Best and Only Way to Produce Food-Form Minerals

How do you create a food-form mineral?

The only (and we mean only) way to create a food-form mineral is with a fermentation process that uses inactive yeast of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain. This is a form of baker’s yeast – just like the type of yeast used in bread and beer making – which mimics the same metabolic process as plants. So, when an inorganic form of selenium is added, the mineral is taken up into the yeast cell to form a 100% organically bound, food-form selenium yeast.

Our Six Step Fermentation Process

S. cerevisiae starts to grow in the laboratory in the presence of sugar and nutrients.

The selenium yeast cream is separated from the fermentation broth and washed.

The solution is pasteurized to inactivate the yeast.

The selenium yeast is sent to customers where it is encapsulated, bottled, or added to food and beverages.

The Proof is in the Science

Isolates and synthetic forms of selenium and other minerals just don’t have the same scientific support that food-form ingredients do. Gold standard, human clinical trials using selenium yeast show that this very inexpensive, organically bound mineral is more bioavailable than other forms of selenium.
